A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
